Le pince de Jacquet

A French massage text from 1907 describes a treatment, invented by Dr. Jacquet, which included a vigorous repetitive mobilization of the facial skin.

Nearly a century ago, his method revolutionized skin care. Nonetheless, this method had certain disadvantages for the therapist (fatigue, reduced finger sensitivity), and for the client (discomfort and inadequate finger pressure). Today LPG, world leader in connective tissue therapy, reinvents “le prince de jaquet” with a revolutionary new machine called the LIFT 6™, avoiding these side effects while retaining all the positive benefits. As Dr. Jacquet described it, the technique “subjects the tissues to what is, in fact, a conditioning process.”

Results are obtained by a thorough and methodical “work out” performed on each square inch of the skin. Dr. Jacquet explained the effects as “a marked increase in circulation, temperate elevation, and sensation of tingling, culminating in a type of tingling, culmination in a type of skin engorgement.” A series of treatments are applied with increasing intensity over a period of several days.

The end result of such vigorous stimulation fights what Dr. Jaquet labeled as “cutaneous hypotnia,” or laxness of the facial skin. The technique also produces a kind of well being of the face, such as one experiences throughout the entire body after a good massage.
